There are several ways to volunteer at the Kitsap Conservation
District.
- Volunteers are also needed during the Spring
Plant and Tree Sale. We order the plants in bulk, and sell them in
bundles of ten. Volunteers are needed to help set up tables, label
bags, bundle up plants, and distribute plants to customers. The plant
sale is usually held in late February or early March. Contact
Brian Stahl
for more information or to sign up.
- Are you looking for a longer-term volunteer opportunity, and are interested in
conservation issues and management? You might consider becoming a member
of the Board of Supervisors
or an Associate Supervisor. Members of the Board are either elected or
appointed and serve three year terms. Associates have no set term.
- During the summer and fall months, there are usually some Best Management
Practices being implemented on local farms. These could include fence
construction, plantings, or other projects. If you are interested in
these opportunities, contact the Resource
Planner in the area you'd like to volunteer in to see if projects have
been scheduled.
- Another way to volunteer is through the Sound Farmers Education Foundation, a
non-profit local group that works on educating the public about farming and
agricultural issues. Contact Frank Varley at (360) 397-1986 or email Joy
Garitone for more
information.
